Das zweites Stück von Paintings aktueller Remix-Reihe ist die Zusammenarbeit mit Oh No Noh, dem Projekt des Leipzigers, Gitarristen, Roboterprogrammierers, Magnetbandzerknitterers und Komponisten Markus Rom. Sein "WYWAYWG (Oh No Noh Remix)“ erscheint heute auf Sinnbus und Lost Map.
Zu seinem Ansatz erklärt Rom:
„Ich mag es, wenn musikalische Repetitionen bis an ihre Grenzen getrieben werden und eine Art kontemplative Trance erzeugen. Das suche ich ständig in meiner eigenen Musik, und bei WYWAYWG hat mich das sich wiederholende Muster im Gesang sofort gepackt. Ich habe es als Ausgangspunkt für meinen Remix gewählt und versucht, es auf harmonisch unterschiedliche Weise auszuarbeiten.“
Mit Oh No Noh verwischt Markus Rom bereits seit mehreren Jahren die Grenzen zwischen LoFi, Indietronica, Postrock, Kraut und Pop. Sein
Hauptinstrumentarium hierfür: E-gitarre, Midi-Roboter, Tapes, Samples. Oh No Noh blickt hinter das Verborgene, formt aus dem Alltag ein Orchester. Findet im Nebensächlichen die Essenz, im Komplexen die Klarheit, in der Einfachheit die Poesie.
The second collaboration of Painting's new remix series features Oh No Noh, the project of Leipzig-based guitarist, robot programmer, magnetic tape crumpler and composer Markus Rom. His "WYWAYWG (Oh No Noh Remix)" is out today on Sinnbus and Lost Map.
As for his approch, Rom explains:
"I like it when musical repetition is pushed to its limits, creating a kind of contemplative trance. I'm constantly searching for that in my own music, and with WYWAYWG, the repeated pattern in the vocals immediately grabbed me. I chose it as a starting point for my remix and tried to present it harmonically in different ways."
With Oh No Noh, Rom has been blurring the boundaries between LoFi, Indietronica, Postrock, Kraut and Pop for several years already. His main instruments for this are electric guitar, MIDI robots, tapes and samples. Oh No Noh is looking behind the obvious, forming an orchestra out of everyday surroundings. Finding the essence in the trivial, clarity in the complex, poetry in simplicity.
