Komplett in Eigenregie produziert (with a little help from her dear friends) ist „Twist My Words“ Frawleys bislang selbstbewussteste Arbeit. Geschrieben mit dem Gedanken an Live-Shows im Hinterkopf sind die zehn Stücke des Albums gleichermaßen reduziert wie überwältigend; eindringlich und beunruhigend, direkt und gnadenlos, mit intelligenten Spoken-Word-Texten über krautrockartige Post-Punk-Beats.
„Twist My Words“ ist eine Reflexion über unsere Zeit, ein Versuch, die Dinge um uns herum zu verstehen und ihnen einen Sinn zu geben. Entirely self-produced (with a little help from her dear friends), "Twist My Words" presents Frawley's most confident work yet. Written with being played live on stage in mind, the ten songs on the album are as stripped back as they are overwhelming; urgent and unsettling, direct and unforgiving with smart spoken word vocals layered over kraut-like post punk beats.
"Twist my words" is a reflection on our times, an attempt to make sense of the things around us, and find meaning in them. Yet it is a clear statement to refuse just giving in to the status quo, to become numb, to look away. The album explores how what is said can be so completely twisted that its meaning is reversed or lost entirely. It questions how responsibility is shifted onto the individual, the exhaustion that results from this, and what it means when all of this is being exploited from positions of power.
